This little thing is the R1N0 "Ground Protection Unit".
It is used for surveillance through the African Research Camps, to spot spies and burglars, breaking through the perimeter.
The offensive abilities of the R1N0 GPU are not groundbreaking, it survives mostly through its high defensive abilities.
It is mostly used to shield the ground troops from hostile fire.
